April 21, 2023 | Elder Update

Dear Harvest Family,

What a blessing it was to gather as a church family for reflection on Good Friday and celebration on Resurrection Sunday. We are so thankful for the Harvest staff and volunteers who served faithfully as they led us through that weekend. We trust that our God has and will continue to use the Easter weekend gatherings to draw many to Himself in salvation or in a new and fresh way.

Elder Transitions
At our monthly meeting earlier this week, we again transitioned men on and off the board. The terms of both David Cryder (Chicago Cathedral) and Michael Smith (Aurora) concluded. We have seen God use both of these men in powerful ways over their years of service to the Lord for our church. In His providence, God uses the gifts, skills, and life experience of those who serve, and David and Mike were prime examples of this. The time, effort, and sacrifice these men made can’t be overstated. As a board, we are very thankful for them. Honoring David and Michael will take place on their campuses over the next couple of weeks, but we encourage you to join us by personally thanking these men when possible.

We also welcomed both Richard Labib (Elgin) and Mike Vanlaningham (Rolling Meadows) as new elders. As elders, we continue to prayerfully seek what God has in store for us as a church. We look forward to serving alongside Richard and Mike with the gifts and experience they bring to the board. As the makeup of the board continues to change over time, we would be honored if you would join us in prayer for direction and unity, that relationships would form quickly, and that God would have His hand on us in all of it.

You are loved!
