July 22, 2022 | Elder Update

Harvest Family,
After our Elder Board meeting earlier this week, we wanted to share this update with you.
Elder Board Transition
This past board meeting marked the end of time on the board for our campus pastor representatives, John Smith and Jeff Thompson. We are so thankful for what these godly men brought to the board during this time as their wisdom and insight were used in a powerful way.

As they served Harvest as elders and their love for the Lord, the church staff, and the people of our church was ever-present. They helped us bridge gaps, understand different perspectives, and apply God’s Word to many situations that were before us. We as a board want to thank them for their time as they served above and beyond the normal responsibilities they have as leaders at Harvest.

Also, please note that although we have moved from campus pastors being official voting members on the board, we have seen the value they bring to our meetings and will be inviting all of them to our elder meetings moving forward.
Unapologetic Preaching
God has blessed Harvest in many ways.  One way in which we are particularly seeing God work in our church is in the way that so many different members of our staff are filling the pulpit and preaching God’s Word on our campuses. Pastor Jeff Bucknam’s commitment to faithfully preaching God’s Word and to pouring into these men as they are trained to do the same has been very evident and exciting. God’s Word is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and when it is faithfully preached, lives change.  Praise God!
Unceasing Prayer
As the summer winds down and we head into the next ministry season we would like to ask you to join us in prayer for two upcoming things.

First, on August 12-13, we will be on an elder retreat focused on relationship building and vision casting for the future of Harvest. We pray, and invite you to pray with us, for a time of fellowship, a time of unity, and for God to move in a way that only He can as we try to continue to put our church on the mission; the mission of making disciples.

Secondly, we are praying for the upcoming school year at Harvest Christian Academy (HCA), our preschool through twelfth-grade school located at the Elgin Campus. As the young people who attend HCA learn and grow, they do so through a solid biblical framework. God has used this ministry in such a powerful way through the years and we trust and pray that this school year would be no exception.
You are loved,
The Elders of Harvest Bible Chapel
