June 30, 2023 | Elder Update

Dear Harvest Family,

After our Elder Board meeting this past week we would like to share a couple of updates.

Harvest Bible Chapel Doctrinal Statement

The past several weeks the staff and the elders have set out to reorganize and clarify the Harvest Bible Chapel’s doctrinal statement. This reorganized version is almost finalized and will soon replace the current statement on our website. Our intention is for the beliefs we have as a church, which haven’t changed, to be presented in a clearer and more accessible manner. Feel free to reach out with any questions by seeking out one of our leaders in person, using the elder email ([email protected]), or by attending one of the town hall meetings that will take place this fall.

Finance Team Transition

On Wednesday, June 21, Michelle Smalenberger completed her service on the Finance Committee and Eric Freckman joined the committee. We as an Elder Board can’t thank Michelle enough for serving such an important role on this team. She has provided great service and financial expertise to our church over the past years. Below is what the elder and Chair of the Finance Committee, Darrin Weidman, shared about Michelle.

“Michelle is the kind of person that every church should want on their Finance Committee. She listened intently to what everyone had to say, and when she spoke it was well thought out, wise, insightful, and full of faith. She loves the Lord and the church that she has attended and served faithfully for many years. Those of us who served with Michelle during her tenure on the Finance Committee at Harvest have been fortunate to have such a good example of one who has modeled the character qualities and servant leadership to which we as believers aspire.” —Darrin Weidman

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. James 3:17-18

For those of you who know Michelle please take the time to thank her for her faithful service to Harvest and join us in praying that God would use Eric in a great way as he serves moving forward.

Staff Sabbath Weeks

Finally, we are very excited for our staff to get an extended break this summer from July 3–14, 2023. We invite you to join us in praying for them as they get this much-needed and deserved time off. Pray that God would refresh them and prepare them for what is ahead of HBC. Also, know that there are plans in place on each campus for leaders to be available to continue to shepherd you, the flock of HBC, while staff members are away. If needed, the elder email is always an option for prayer or help especially during these two weeks.

You are loved,

—The Elders of Harvest Bible Chapel
